"Gray has never looked this colorful."
This was the film's very last line and genuinely the cherry on top which made me give in to my senses of how beautiful the color is. I was in tears.
It was my first time watching a John Leo Garcia film and his Love Is Color Blind compelled me to look at Star Cinema's way of storytelling in a different light. It showed an unconventional movie technique that I personally developed a fondness with. It made the movie so refreshing, not only in our eyes because of its excellent color schemes, but moreso on how it propelled you to the emotions that it wants to convey... and wants you to feel. It may took a different route yet the exact reason why it is truly an exceptional emotional rollercoaster ride.
Without any bias at all, Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan lived up to the expectations. With their recent success and popularity, if Garcia's goal is to show a different side of the team-up, in terms of what other things they can give on-screen, he was successful. He did it with flying colors. They were classy and graceful. The sensitivities of these actors were highlighted and the two did not miss to touch the canvas' surface and added more texture to the final artwork - it was pure and honest. I will not be surprised if they will make it on primetime. The bubblies (including myself... oo na. bula na rin ako LOL) will be proud.
The build up was great. As any other painting, Garcia started with a blank canvas. And then he started to threw in some colors, slowly blending these colors as the story progresses. When the story brush stroked back - the flashbacks - that was my favorite part. The approach was out of the ordinary which made it more noteworthy. There were so much kilig which the bubblies will surely enjoy. Then, Garcia turned the brush to get the contrast that the story needs. The struggles were intensely felt. The confrontation was unprecedented - the execution was everything.
And as it nears the ending, Garcia swivelled the hues of the color wheel and created tints, tones and shades spontaneously which muted me as a viewer.
The ending - he made his final coating a polychromatic one. It delivered the desired emotional effect. It connected and it was sincere. The film will definitely put another Garcia on the map.
"Love Is Color Blind" was a painting beautifully-made.
It is the centerpiece.🎨
